Goow Vs. Akhtaruzzaman; Ruling Sept. 7

After days of trials, the judge in the disputed council seat, Thomas F. Brogan, said he will pass his final verdict on September 7th, 2012. Mohammed Akhtaruzzaman, was elected by a massive turn out on May 8th election for the 2nd Ward seat; while Aslon Goow, a 3-term councilman was ousted as a result of that election.
Goow despite losing by a landslide continued to press his case and alleged that his competitor did not meet the residency requirement to even run against him in the race.
Much evidence was presented during the course of the trial: Akhtaruzzaman’s forged voter registration which had a different address, his Motor Vehicle Commission address also contradicted his originally claimed residence.
The September 7th, ruling may disappoint Mr Akhtaruzzaman, whose first lawyer was routed by Goow’s.
