Did you start puffing on a cigarette during high school? You must have been one popular teenager. Thomas Valente, a professor from University of Southern California, an expert on preventive medicine, says students who are popular are more likely to smoke as opposed to their not so popular classmates.
The study published in Journal of Adolescent Health asserts that on a given day there are 3,800 underage persons putting a cigarette in their mouth for the first time.
Mr Valente also laments that not enough has been done to make smoking uncool.
