A teacher earning 51,000 dollars a year took home a laptop from her classroom which was recovered today at her residence in Newark by the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office.

Mawiyah Britton-Reed, 38-year-old, worked as a 7th grade teacher in School No. 25, located in Trenton Ave; after the discovery of the stolen item, she will likely lose her position as a teacher.

Authorities tracked the laptop down using LoJack, a tracking software, which is installed in all Paterson Public Schools’ computers, including the one that was snatched by Ms Britton-Reed.

She will be charged with theft; Ms Britton-Reed has been released from custody and awaits court appearance.
