14 arrested in anti-prostitution sweep

11 prostitutes and 3 johns were arrested in an anti-prostitution sweep done by the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office Friday night. Save for three all of them have been released pending court appearance at the municipal court.

The prostitutes attempted to solicit undercover, plain-cloth, detectives.

Downtown Paterson is well known for prostitution, where most residents of the area often complain how little the Paterson Police Department does in order to curb illegal business that takes place after nightfall.

From time to time the Sheriff’s Department sweeps the area and makes dozens of arrests as it did on Friday and in October.

The three still detained had previous criminal records or possessed illicit drugs.
