A city resident was robbed of $25,000 on Market Street on Tuesday night, according to Paterson Police Department.

The victim was returning a rented moving truck to U-Haul Moving & Storage on Market Street, at around 10:35 p.m. on Tuesday, when two gunmen approached him and demanded everything he had. The victim gave up everything he had which included the $25,000 he had taken to Pennsylvania to purchase a vehicle.

The victim told police that he had gone to that state to purchase a car with that amount in hand after connecting with the seller through Craigslist, but when he made it there, the seller acted in a suspicious manner, forcing the man to tell the seller to do the transaction at a nearby police station. The seller refused, so the buyer drove his way back to the city.

The two suspects fled with the large sum of money; the victim was not injured.
