Jhymiere Moore the 19-year-old alleged shooter of 12-year-old Genesis Rincon is set to appear before judge Greta Gooden-Brown on Friday morning.

Authorities have charged Moore with the murder of Rincon after he surrendered to law enforcement officials on Tuesday night. Earlier today, Moore was transferred from the Paterson Police Department to the Passaic County Jail.

“At 1:41pm today, Jhymiere Moore was transferred to the Passaic County Jail from his temporary incarceration at the City of Paterson Municipal lock-up,” Richard Berdnik, Passaic County Sheriff, said. “Pending classification, psychological and medical evaluation and because of the high profile nature of the alleged crime, inmate Moore is being held in protective custody.”

Moore’s bail has been set at $3 million, according to authorities. However, even after bail payment Moore, who was on a three-year probation will not be released, because he violated the condition of his probation. “Moore has violated the conditions of his 3 year probation, and could not be discharged from custody, even with posted bail after a court hearing,” sheriff’s office said.

Rincon was outside on Rosa Parks Boulevard near Warren Street with two friends on Saturday at around 8:40 p.m. returning to a family gathering when Moore allegedly fired several shots, one of which landed on the girl’s head.

Rincon was rushed to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center where she was found to be brain dead as a result of the fatal shot. Rincon subsequently passed away resulting in a mass movement that demanded justice for the 12-year-old.

In addition to murder charge, Moore has been charged with possession of a firearm for unlawful purpose and possession of a handgun without a permit. Moore will be at the Passaic County Court house at 9 a.m. before Gooden-Brown, authorities said.

If convicted on those charges Moore faces a significantly lengthy prison term.
