The Boys & Girls Club of Paterson and Passaic received a commercial-grade stove courtesy of a company owned by a family with roots in Paterson. Toms River based Payne & Sons, a kitchen repair company, made the donation earlier in the month.

“We were amazed at the number of meals that Boys & Girls Club provides each year,” said Jeff Payne of Payne & Sons. “Our family came from Paterson. We know how important The Club is to the community and we were happy to lend a helping hand to Chef Casey and the Club staff so that they can continue to care for the youth of Paterson.”

The club prepares and serves over 95,000 meals every year to children and teenagers. The club serves meals to children as young as 5 and as old as 18, according to the club. The company’s organization visited the club and after seeing the large number of meals the club prepares on a given day it decided to donate a stove.

During the summer, the club runs a summer camp serving breakfast and lunch to over 1,000 children at the city’s two locations and in Passaic.

“With the help of our Community Partners like Payne & Sons, we will continue to achieve our mission and serve the children of Paterson and Passaic,” Peter Thornton the club’s director said.
