A city man was wounded during the evening hours of Monday while exiting a barbershop at the intersection of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Pearl Street, according to the Paterson Police Department.

The victim, 24-year-old, was approached by a lone suspect at around 8:24 p.m. on Monday at the corner of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Pearl Street. “The male suspect produced a handgun and fired several times at the victim, striking him in the cheek area,” said Patrick Murray, head of the Ceasefire Unit.

Police said the suspect was inside a waiting car. The wounded victim fled on foot to save himself. “The victim then fled the area on foot, and was located on Pearl Street by responding patrol units,” Murray said.

Responding officers found the victim outside a residence on Pearl Street. He was rushed to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment. The victim is in stable condition at the hospital, police said.

Police said the suspect in the incident fled in a vehicle in an unknown direction. Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call them.

The investigation is continuing at this time, and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Christopher Ravallese or Prosecutor’s Detective Michael Boone of the Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
