Eva’s Village rated four-star for financial health and transparency by Charity Navigator

The largest anti-poverty organization in New Jersey, Eva’s Village received four-star rating for the fourth year in a row from Charity Navigator, a non-profit independent charity rating organization, for financial health and accountability and transparency.

“Only 7% of the charities we rate have received at least 4 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Eva’s Village outperforms most other charities in America,” President of Charity Navigator Ken Berger said.

The charity rating organization sifts through Internal Revenue Service (IRS) filings and websites of over 8,000 American charities to judge their financial health and accountability and transparency.

“We are proud to have earned our fourth consecutive 4-star rating from Charity Navigator since they have implemented their two dimensional rating system — receiving four out of a possible four stars under this new, more critical evaluation system indicates how hard everyone at Eva’s Village works to execute our mission in a fiscally responsible way,” Executive Director of Eva’s Village Marie Reger said.

In 2011 the rating organization added the second element of accountability and transparency to its two dimensional rating system to determine whether charities are using “best practices” to minimize unethical activities and share basic information about their organization with donors and the public.

“This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Eva’s Village from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust,” Berger said.

Eva’s Village houses the homeless, provides medical care to the needy, and serves hot meals to the indigent, and treats the addicted.

“We utilize our revenue in a responsible manner allowing us to help more of those in the greatest need, and both private and government funders have confidence that the funding they provide will be utilized with strict accountability,” Reger said.
