State task force on school security to hold meeting in International High School

The New Jersey Task Force on School Security is scheduled to hold a public testimony session in International High School on January 12 to collect residents input. The task force made up of education administrators and security professionals is assigned to collect public testimony on school security to ultimately compile a report for the State’s governor and the legislature.
State lawmakers created the task for to “study and develop recommendations to improve school security and safety, and to ensure a safe learning environment for students and school employees.”
The task force will analyze and examine a broad list of topics like “entrance screening systems; assignment of police officers in school buildings; improvement of emergency response times; advanced student and visitor ID cards; use of biometric technology for authorized entry; panic alarms; cyber security; periodic patrols by law enforcement; hardening of school perimeters and entryways; emergency communications plans; staff training; and elevated risk factors.”
Residents are invited to share their concerns about school safety and security. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 12, 2015 at 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in International High School, 200 Grand Street Paterson, NJ 07501.
