Students of Rosa Parks High School will put on a student choreographed show next week featuring ballet, modern, and jazz dances. Tickets for the show are on sale: $5 for adults, $3 for students – tickets can be purchased at the school’s website by clicking here.

“It’s an annual event,” said Erin Pride, dance teacher at the high school. She said the annual show has been taking place since 2010, when the school first launched the choreography show.

This year the school has scheduled two performances: matinee performance will take place at 10 a.m. and evening performance is scheduled for 7 p.m. on January 22nd, 2014.

The performances will be held inside the high school’s Lou Costello Theater at the 413 12th Avenue, Paterson, NJ 07514.

“It’s really to showcase their growth and their work,” said Pride, of the students slated to perform.

She said about 18 students – mostly juniors and seniors — will take part in the performance. She said the students have been rehearsing for the show one-hour every week since October of last year.

Pride said she gives the students a concept to work from to design their movement sequences. “Within that concept they have to create a piece,” said Pride. “This year the piece had to focus on a relationship in their life – a significant person.”
