A city man was wounded Thursday night inside Estrella Bar and Liquors on 12th Avenue after a gunman approached the bar’s front door and opened fire, according to the Paterson Police Department.
The victim was inside the bar at the intersection of 12th Avenue and East 22nd Street at around 11:15 p.m. when a gunman approached the bar’s entrance, opened the door, and began firing inside, police said.
“At this time it appears that the victim was inside the bar when a male suspect approached the business, opened the front door, and fired inside, striking the victim in the face,” Patrick Murray, head of the Ceasefire Unit, said.
Police responded to the scene, but could not locate a victim. Minutes later an alert came in from St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center that a gunshot victim had arrived by private vehicle.
The victim is in stable condition at the hospital, Murray said.
