In an effort to protect city families from house fires, the Paterson Office of Emergency Management and Fire Department have teamed up with the American Red Cross to distribute free smoke alarms.

The city will be offering free installations of the smoke alarms along with providing information on how to prepare an action plan should fire break out in your home.

Commercial buildings and residential properties with six or more apartments are ineligible.

The initiative run in injunction with Mayor Jose “Joey” Torres’ office aims to reduce injuries and fatalities that result from home fires by better informing and equipping residents.

Interested residents should contact the city at (973) 321-1410 to schedule a free smoke alarm installation.
