Authorities arrested a city man in possession of several envelopes of heroin and a bag of marijuana early Friday morning, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.

Scott Sanson was observed circling around in his Jeep in the area of Hamilton Avenue and Straight Street several times at around 4:30 a.m. on Friday. Sheriff’s Officer Fajardo observed Sanson get into the vehicle and quickly pull away.

The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Main Street. When Fajardo approached the vehicle from the passenger side he spotted Sanson stuffing a large plastic bag inside his waistband while looking for to see if the officer was approaching the vehicle through his driver’s side mirror, Berdnik said.

Fajardo ordered the suspect out of the vehicle. The officer conducted a brief search which revealed a large zip lock bag that contained seven glassine envelopes of heroin and one small clear bag of suspected marijuana.

Sanson was charged with drug possession and released on summons, authorities said.
