A 35-year-old city man was wounded during the evening hours of Tuesday on West Broadway and Ryle Avenue, according to the Paterson Police Department.

Police said the victim was walking near the area of West Broadway and Ryle Avenue at around 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday when he was struck by gunfire.

“The victim’s initial account indicates that he was walking in the area of West Broadway and Ryle Avenue when he was struck with a bullet in the upper torso, and from there he was transported to St. Joseph’s in a city cab,” Patrick Murray, head of the Ceasefire Unit, said.

Murray said detectives are continuing their investigation of the shooting. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Detectives Francisco Brito or Edgar Taylor of the Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
