Seven win coveted Ray Kroc Award including a city McDonald’s manager

A city McDonald’s restaurant manager won the prestigious Ray Kroc Award which recognizes the top one-percent of managers nationwide.
City resident Danelia Duran was recognized as one of seven tri-state area managers for operational excellence, management leadership, and customer satisfaction on Tuesday.
“Ray Kroc once said, ‘You’re only as good as the people you hire’ and this year’s honorees are a living testament to that principle,” General Manager and Vice-President of McDonald’s New York Metro Region Mwaffak Kanjee said. “Their contributions to the brand and the business are an inspiration to everyone at McDonald’s.”
Duran began working for McDonald’s at 14 years old after her family immigrated to New York from the Dominican Republic. Duran is an employee of McDonald’s franchisee Anthony Scari.
“Although I picked up most of my English from working at the restaurant, I can’t seem to find the words to express how proud I am right now,” Duran said.
Duran will receive $2,500 cash prize, a trophy, and trip to Chicago to accept her award at the awards gala. The top one-percent of McDonald’s managers amount to 142 restaurant managers in both independently owned and operated restaurants as well as corporate owned locations around the United States. All 142 top performing managers are being recognized with the 2014 Ray Kroc Awards.
