City police arrested six men and two minors during a Friday afternoon drug bust in a quiet South Paterson street recovering large quantities of marijuana, according to police director Jerry Speziale.
Police officers raided 24 Goshen Street at about 2 p.m. on Friday arresting Clifton residents Michael Roy, 22; Joseph Keller, 22; Kaelan Flores, 19; Floyd Tigney, 21; Christian Gutierrez, 20, and a 16-year-old teenager.
Husein Husien, 24, and another 16-year-old teenager, both of Paterson were arrested during the raid as well, said Speziale.
The suspects were charged with various drug offenses including distributing narcotics near a South Paterson park and distributing within a school zone.
Flores, Tigney, and Gutierrez had in possession 14 grams of marijuana, said Speziale. The teenager from Clifton had 258 grams.
Husien, who resides at the residence that was raided by police, has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of 280 grams of marijuana for distribution near a park and a school zone.
Police also seized $323 in cash from Husien as well as another $2,452 from his residence.
The second minor from Paterson was found in possession of 234 grams of marijuana. Police charged him with drug possession, possession with the intent to distribute near a park and a school zone.
Speziale said police officers were conducting surveillance of the property due to complaints from residents. He praised the city’s police for their work.
“Our efforts to work in collaboration with the community are paramount,” said Speziale. “The men and women of the department are dedicated to welfare of the citizens and responsive to their complaints.”
“Together, block by block we will take the streets back and achieve a safer Paterson,” said Speziale.
Correction: This story inaccurately stated the events transpired on Goshen Avenue, when in fact, the raid took place on Goshen Street. There is no such street as Goshen Avenue in Paterson.
