A 20-year-old city man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the Saturday night shooting on Rosa Parks Boulevard that claimed the life of 15-year-old Armoni Sexton, according to the Paterson Police Department.

The suspect Gregory A. Oliver, 20-year-old, of North 3rd Street in the 1st Ward, is charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, and weapons possession in connection to Saturday’s shooting that left three others wounded, according to a press release issued by Det. Capt. Heriberto Rodriguez.

Rodriguez’s release did not include additional details about the incident or if more suspects are being sought in connection to the shooting.

Sexton was wounded in the shooting that occurred at around 8:37 p.m. on Saturday outside a liquor store in the corner of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Godwin Avenue. Police rushed him to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The teenager succumbed to his injuries at around 11:55 a.m. the next morning. Other victims of the shooting are expected to recover, police said. The shooting is another in a continuous cycle of gang related violence between two gangs in 1st and 4th wards as they battle for territory and influence.

Last year, a drive-by shooting on the same corner left six people wounded, when a vehicle passing by the intersection released a flurry of bullets at a group of people hanging on the corner.
