26-year-old accused of having 500 child pornography files

A city man was arrested and charged with child pornography possession and distribution on Wednesday, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.
Roossevelt Ramirez-Rivera, 26-year-old, had more than 500 files of child pornography on his computer some of which he distributed over the internet out of his 169 Slater Street apartment, authorities said.
Passaic County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crime Unit investigated Ramirez-Rivera after receiving information he was distribution videos and images of child pornography. “Using various tools available to law enforcement, detectives were able to learn that Ramirez-Rivera was utilizing his computer to transmit and receive the files,” Berdnik said.
Detectives seized Ramirez-Rivera’s computer. Berdnik said detectives are examining the computer and so far 500 files of child pornography was located in the machine. Ramirez-Rivera is charged with 12 count child pornography possession and 11 count of distribution.
