Police officers from the Ceasefire unit and the Narcotics division netted two arrests, recovered two guns, seized 30 bags of heroin, issued 61 ordinance violations, and handed out eight motor vehicle violations during a violent crime suppression detail on Friday and Saturday, according to police director Jerry Speziale.

The two-day operation resulted in two arrested: Bashier Clyburn, 24, on Governor and Paterson Streets for outstanding warrant out of Elmwood Park; and Mariano Maldonado, 22, on 12th Avenue and East 22nd Street for drug possession.

Maldonado allegedly had 30 glassine bags of heroin, according to police.

Police also recovered two guns: a S&W .38 revolver and a Browning Carbine rifle from 11 Manchester Avenue.

The weekend operation also resulted in the issuance of 61 ordinance violations involving obstruction of commercial establishment, obstruction of public passage, and public drinking. Eight motor vehicle tickets were also issued.

“Clearly, the utilization of directed patrol, hot spot policing, and intelligence led initiatives to problem areas and relentless follow-up enhances our ability to curtail crime,” said Speziale.
