City police arrested a suspect who let out a single gunshot on Governor Street on Wednesday night, according to police director Jerry Speziale.

That bullet wounded a 35-year-old city man on the hand. Police did not find a victim at the scene in the vicinity of 215 Governor Street on Wednesday night at about 11:10 p.m.. On Friday morning the victim sought medical treatment at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center at which point the incident was reported to police.

Nideer Bush, 29, of East 25th Street, was swiftly apprehended in connection with the shooting on Friday at about 11:10 p.m., following an investigation by Ceasefire Unit and Major Crimes Unit detectives.

“Detectives pieced this investigation together because they have the ability to see situations for what they are and are endowed will the intelligence and skills required,” said Speziale. “Anyone that believes they will evade the great detectives in our city is mistaken.”

During their investigation detectives identified Bush at the scene from which a loaded 9 mm Taurus handgun was recovered.

Bush was arrested at his home on 489 East 25 Street on weapon possession. His bail has been set at $75,000 without 10-percent option.

“Violence will not be tolerated in our city and anyone that deviates will be arrested and face justice,” said Speziale. “Another dangerous individual and weapon off our streets.”
