William Paterson University gets $2 million grant to train Paterson school leaders

A $2 million federal grant has been awarded to William Paterson University to develop leadership programs in four city schools, announced Congressman Bill Pascrell Wednesday afternoon.
“As a former educator, I understand that the way to improve students outcomes in communities like Paterson is to help develop effective leadership,” Pascrell said. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to see this federal grant help to select, train and place great leaders right here in Paterson schools.”
The United States Department of Education awarded the $1,999,266 federal grant via the Turnaround School Leaders Program which falls under School Improvement Grants (SIG) program.
William Paterson University will develop leadership programs in School 6, School 13, School 28 and New Roberto Clemente School. The university will also work with Kean University in Plainfield school district.
The Turnaround School Leaders Program has as its aim to develop, enhance, and implement a leadership pipeline that selects prepares, places, supports, and retains school leaders including leadership teams in low-performing schools.
