A handgun with ammunition was recovered stashed in a garbage can in front of a church on Jefferson Street on Friday night, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.

Berdnik said authorities acted on a tip from a concerned resident that led to the recovery of the handgun.

Authorities found the unloaded Cobra .380 with one seven round magazine stashed in a black bag inside a garbage receptacle in front of the Prophetic Church of God at the intersection of Jefferson and North 5th streets.

“Once again, Sheriff’s Detectives were able to recover a handgun before it was involved in criminal activity,” Berdnik said.

While Paterson P.D. goes around harrassing hard working taxpayers. Or sleeping in the patrol car in a parking lot on 20th ave. And 42 street. Nice big lot to get lost in a supervisors car. Check that out one day Director , I would've taken a pic but was afraid of him waking up. I know what would've come next, him a few other cops giving me a tune-up or a wood shampoo! . The best is when you see a patrol car driving through a bad area with the windows up, A/C blasted. Come on now, how could you help cries for help? Sheriff's depart. Out getting S#it done!!!

P.S. the best place for tune-ups is behind hinchliffe stadium, ask me how I know!!!
