City police arrested a 38-year-old man who allegedly obtained a gun from his home and threatened another person in a motor vehicle accident dispute on Thursday morning, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Teodoro Roque allegedly raised the black handgun in threatening gestures against the victim at about 10 a.m. on East 19th Street.

Police seized a loaded 9 mm Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun loaded with 11 rounds from Roque’s residence.

Roque faces charges of aggravated assault with firearm and possession of firearm for an unlawful purpose, said the director.

“Using a weapon to threaten another could have become a deadly situation and the officers responded with expedience,” said Speziale.

Police officers Cheyenne Moreno and Fausto Caamano responded to the area on report of a man with a handgun.

“The officers utilized good judgment in handling this situation and removed a potentially dangerous weapon and issue,” said the director.
