The railroad crossing on 5th Avenue is being rehabilitated, according to New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT).

The existing crossing will be replaced with a new concrete crossing with new asphalt approaches, according to NJDOT. The project is part of the department’s railroad grade-crossing safety program that repairs, upgrades, or removes roughly 30 crossings every year in New Jersey.

5th Avenue will be closed to traffic in both directions near the railroad crossing at the intersection with Wait Street until 7 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2015, according to the department.

The rehabilitation work at the crossing began last Wednesday.
