A city man was wounded in a shooting during the early morning hours of Monday, according to the Paterson Police Department.

The victim, 28-year-old, was shot in the leg on 11th Avenue and East 19th Street, at around 12:05 a.m. on Monday, police said.

Police responded to the area, but did not find a victim. Police located a scene at the intersection.

The victim told police he was walking on East 19th Street near 11th Avenue when he heard numerous gunshots. The victim attempted to flee on foot. “The victim states that he was struck in the leg while fleeing,” Patrick Murray, head of the Ceasefire Unit, said.
