A traffic stop on Lafayette Street yielded three arrests, 40 glassines of heroin, five bags of marijuana, and revolver, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Byron Brown, 24, Donte Jackson, 18, and Dashawn McDaniel, 19, were arrested on drugs and weapon possession, said the director.

The three city residents were inside a Toyota Camry Camry at about 8 p.m. on Tuesday when police officer Robert Shirey pulled them over after observing a dead tail light.

Shirey saw a bag of marijuana on the floor by the McDaniel’s feet. McDaniel was in the rear passenger seat. Brown occupied the driver’s and Jackson was in the front passenger seat. The officer conducted a thorough search recovering four bundles of heroin that totaled 40 glassines, five bags of marijuana, and a .38 special Rossi revolver, according to police.

Speziale said the weapon’s serial number was not on file and will be sent to New Jersey State Police lab for examination.

Brown was issued a ticket for driving without license and for having a dead tail light. All three were taken to police headquarters for processing pending arraignment.

“The patrol division does an outstanding job and has removed another weapon and illegal drugs from our streets,” said Speziale.
