City police arrested two boys and an adult who they say are responsible for two armed carjackings in the city’s Eastside and People’s Park sections, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Police said the three teenagers and another 16-year-old were responsible for the two carjackings that occurred on November 5th, 2015. The 16-year-old absconded after learning police were looking for him, said the director.

The 19-year-old was identified as Shamel Wilkins, of East 21st Street. All four – after investigation by detectives Phillip Calicchio and Mike Figueroa – have been charged with carjacking and weapon possession, according to police.

“I want to commend the leadership and members of the juvenile division for their quick and swift investigation and action which has held those accountable for their actions,” said Speziale. “Whether the juvenile goes across a jurisdictional boundary or an ocean we will reach out and bring him back to face justice.”
