Netcong man shot in 12th Avenue shooting

A Netcong man was wounded in a shooting on 12th Avenue early Tuesday evening, according to the Paterson Police Department.

The victim, 31-year-old, suffered gunshot wound to the upper arm at around 6:15 p.m. on 12th Avenue and East 22nd Street police said.

Police said the victim was in the area of 12th Avenue and East 22nd Street when he was approached on the passenger side by a hooded gunman. The suspect opened the passanger side door and produced a handgun.

The victim attempted to flee the area, but the suspect fired into the vehicle striking the victim in the arm, police said.

Police said the victim drove to Broadway and Madison Avenue, stopped at a gas station, and sought assistance. Police responded and the victim was transported to Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Patrick Murray, head of the Ceasefire Unit, said the victim is in stable condition.
