Two city men were killed early Sunday morning at a large party that turned violent on 1st Avenue, according to police.

The victims Fernando D. Irby, 24, and Kashif Belfield, 26, were shot to death at a large party at 55 1st Avenue, according to police.

It’s not clear how many others were wounded.

The address is a large warehouse on Paterson’s border with Hawthorne that was the site of an illegal after-hour party last night, said officials.

Detectives captain Heriberto Rodriguez said police received a call of shots fired at the address at about 3:44 a.m. He said police responded to find a large party of around 30 individuals at the location.

Irby and Belfield were transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, but did not survive their injuries, said the captain.

Police director Jerry Speziale said homicide count remains low for the year. “This is one too many,” he said. “I am confident the detectives will bring this to a successful conclusion.”

so whose warehouse is it? the owners & whoever is on the lease must receive severe penalties & jail time for allowing these places to be used for illegal activities.INCLUDING those who use spaces for dogfighting.
only when owners are held responsible for what their tenants do, will paterson get cleaned up.that's the difference between us & other towns. they do not allow it, but here, anything goes.
