A multi-agency police enforcement operation netted 36 arrests, 1,306 moving violations, 200 summonses, 207 glassines of heroin, 73 grams plus 49 baggies of marijuana, 4 guns, and $7,462 in cash, according to police.

13 baggies of crack-cocaine and 11 bags of powdered cocaine and 4 bags of Amphetamines were recovered during the three-day operation, said police director Jerry Speziale.

The director considered the operation – dubbed “Operation Swift Justice” – which came on the heel of several shootings that shook the city before the close of the year a success thanking many agencies which assisted with resources and manpower.

“On behalf of the mayor and the city of Paterson I want to thank all the agencies for their assistance,” said Speziale. The Passaic County Sheriff’s Office, the New Jersey State Police, and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office provided resources for the operation.

“Everyone involved was focused and relentless in their pursuit of justice,” said the director.

The 36 arrests included 16 on drug charges, 10 on outstanding warrants, 2 for having a stolen motor vehicle, 2 on drunk driving, 3 on disorderly conduct, and 3 on weapons possession, said the director.

Police recovered a defaced .38 caliber revolver, a 9 mm stolen handgun, and an AR-15 rifle. The last two weapons were reported stolen, according to police.

Police also recovered a stolen vehicle during the heavy deployment throughout the city’s crime hot spots.

“Collaborating together unleashes the power of the many to do what none of us could do alone,” said Speziale.
