A city man was wounded in what is being called a questionable shooting on Saturday night on Hamilton Avenue and Rosa Parks Boulevard.

The victim, 29-year-old, was wounded at about 9:30 p.m. at the corner of Hamilton Avenue and Rosa Parks Boulevard, according to police.

Police said the victim sustained a minor injury to the lower extremity.

“The shooting appears to be questionable and has the appearance of a possible self-inflicted wound,” said police director Jerry Speziale.

The victim was treated and released from St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, said the director.

Speziale said the shooting is under investigation.

The director said the city has deployed its group deterrent team during the weekend to quell violence.

“The team has done a good job quelling violence,” said the director. He said in the coming days police will deploy other measures in connection with the Safe City Initiative to further curb street violence which spiked towards the end of December.
