Paterson police arrest 15 on drug charges in crackdown

In a series of busts over a 10-day period, city police officers arrested 15 people on drug charges, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Police charged city residents Brianna A. Peart, 22, of 17th Avenue; Jason A. Wright, 24, of East 26th Street; Henry Rivera, 31, of Pearl Street; Hernando Mathieu, 61, of Godwin Street; Jamal L. Campbell, 28, of Keen Street; Robert L. Sapp, 40, of Rosa Parks Boulevard; Dashawn McDaniel, 19, of 11th Avenue; and Wellington Santana, 18, of Nagle Street on various drug offenses.

Others arrested during the narcotics crackdown between January 19th and January 29th, 2016 were Zachary M. Blume, 20, of Rockaway; Andrew J. Southward, 19, of Rockaway; Robert J. D’Arco, 31, of Bloomfield; Shannon Siedzik, 23, of Clifton; Ali Cheikhali, 27, of Wallington; Fadel Abdallah, 23, of Clifton; and Ezio S. Cecere, 30, of Wyckoff.

Police recovered 167 glassines of heroin, 13 baggies of marijuana, 29 bags of crack-cocaine, and 10 prescription Xanax pills. $2,121 in suspected drug money was also seized during the operation, said the director.

Blume, Southward, Peart, and Wright were arrested on 362 East 40th Street on January 19th, 2016. Peart and Wright attempted to sell 40 glassines of heroin to Blume and Southward, according to police. $878 in drug money was seized from during the bust, said the director.

Rivera was arrested at 13 12th Avenue on January 20th, 2016 with 12 baggies of marijuana, according to police. On the same day, police busted Mathieu and Campbell on Park Avenue and East 23rd Street.

Campbell sold two baggies of crack-cocaine to Mathieu, according to police. $425 in drug money was recovered during the bust, said the director.

Police caught Sapp at the corner of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Fulton Street with 27 baggies of crack-cocaine and 26 glassine envelopes of heroin on January 21st, 2016, according to police.

$214 in drug money was taken from Sapp, said the director. On the same day, police arrested D’Arco, Siedzik, and McDaniel at 494 East 23rd Street.

McDaniel had 68 glassines of heroin of which he sold 50 to Siedzik and D’Arco, according to police. $253 in drug money was seized, said the director.

Cecere was arrested with 15 glassines of heroin on January 27th, 2016 at 270 East 28th Street, according to police.

On January 28th, 2016, police arrested Cheikhali with 9 glassines of heroin purchased from Santana on Harrison and Carroll Street. Santa had 18 glassines of heroin prior to the sale, according to police. $351 in drug money was seized during the bust, said the director.

Abdallah was caught with a bag of marijuana and 10 Xanax pills on Main and Levine Streets on January 29th, 2016, said the director. Abdallah also had drug paraphernalia in possession, according to police.

“The men and women of Paterson’s finest will vigorously continue to combat the scourge of drugs in our city,” said Speziale.
