An armed 25-year-old city man, who stole a victim’s car in the Bunker Hill section on Saturday, was quickly arrested by officers, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Juan Torres allegedly stole the victim’s car on Shady and Peel Streets, according to police. He has been charged with weapon possession, robbery, and receiving stolen property, said the director.

Police officers John Luizzi and Juan Sieira responded to the area and rapidly obtained a description of the suspect: the suspect was armed with a handgun and was operating an Acura in the area.

Luis A. Torres, another police officer patrolling the area, also joined the search for the vehicle.

Officer Torres, Luizzi, and Sieira located the suspect on 6th Avenue and East 5th Street. He was in the rear seat of the vehicle trying to hide a fully loaded .357 revolver which was stolen out of New Jersey.

Torres was arrested without an incident, said the director.

“This is another fine example of the outstanding police work and dedication of Paterson’s finest,” said Speziale.
