Police: 22 arrested on drug charges in weekly Paterson sweep

The city’s police officers nabbed 22 people on drug charges during their weekly citywide narcotics sweep, according to police.

488 glassine envelopes of heroin, 83 baggies of crack-cocaine, 12 grams of crack-cocaine, 3 baggies of marijuana, and $8,581 in suspected drug money was seized during the sweep that ran from March 1st to 7th, 2016, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Arrested were city residents Emmanuel Byrd, 21, of East 28th Street; Eric Moore, 52, of East 27th Street; Malachi J. Wilkes, 49, of Park Avenue; Tajay Blackwood, 23, of East 23rd Street; Kimberly Roman, 36, of East 18th Street; Mathew P. Peoples, 39, of North 1st Street; Tyrone Bennett, 53, of 17th Avenue; Louis Allen aka “Supreme,” 49, of Auburn Street; Delores Robinson aka “Lois,” 48, of Pearl Street; Sherone Nelson, 46, of Broadway; Sedika Richmond aka “Tyesha Boone,” 38, of Auburn Street; Christopher Dock, 25, of Oak Street; Faquir L. Melton, 24, of 12th Avenue; Jabari Q. Thompson, 24, of 17th Avenue; and Emani M. Holmes, 21, of Elm Street.

Police also apprehended two city teenagers on drug charges: a 17-year-old boy, of Jackson Street; and a 16-year-old boy, of 5th Avenue.

Arrested were also Stephen Porter, 24, of Lake Hiawatha; Kyle J. Ruffings, 24, of Wayne; Daniel Saad, 31, of Fairfield; Patrick Nagle, 36, of Glenrock; and Lisa M. Fioravanti, 29, of Ridgefield.

Byrd was arrested on March 1st, 2016 at 732 East 28th Street with 20 glassines of heroin, according to police.

Moore was caught with 3 glassines of heroin at 115 Godwin Avenue on the same day. Police also arrested Wilkes at the same location with 94 glassines of heroin.

$187 in suspected drug money was taken from Wilkes.

Porter, Ruffings, and Blackwood were arrested on posession of 25 glassine of heroin on 15th Avenue and East 26th Street on March 2nd, 2016.

Blackwood allegedly sold to Porter, and Ruffings, according to police.

The same day police arrested Saad at 770 20th Avenue with 97 glassines of heroin, according to police.

Nagle, Roman, Peoples, Bennett, Allen, Robinson, Nelson, and Richmond were arrested at 87 Auburn Street on March 3rd, 2016.

Nagle had 6 glassines of heroin and Roman had 2 baggies of crack-cocaine, according to police.

Peoples allegedly sold the heroin to Nagle. $580 in suspected drug money was seized from Peoples.

Bennett, Allen, and Robinson were charged with having 143 glassines of heroin, 12 grams and 3 baggies of crack-cocaine, according to police.

Bennett, Allen, and Robinson also had drug paraphernalia at the fortified premises, according to police.

Richmond was also charged with having 143 glassines of heroin. Richmond also allegedly provided false name and date of birth to police.

Nelson was arrested at the same location with 1 baggie of crack-cocaine.

On March 4th, 2016, police arrested Dock, Melton, and two teenagers at 184 Jackson Street for having marijuana.

A 17-year-old had 3 baggies of marijuana while Dock, Melton, and a 16-year-old had marijuana under 50 grams, according to police.

Fioravanti, Thompson, Holmes, were arrested at 299 17th Avenue on March 7th, 2016, according to police.

Fioravanti allegedly had 60 glassines of heroin. Thompson and Holmes allegedly had 77 baggies of crack-cocaine, 20 glassines of heroin, and drug paraphernalia, said police.

$7,398 was taken from Thompson, according to police.

“The men and women of the department will continue their tireless efforts in ridding the city of illegal narcotics,” said Speziale.
