A 28-year-old city man was wounded in a shooting early Thursday evening on North 3rd and Jefferson Streets, according to police.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the neck at about 7 p.m., according to police. He is presently in stable condition at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.

A fight between the victim and the suspect turned for the worse leading to gun fire. Police responded to the shooting after receiving alerts of gunfire in the area.

“Incidents like this illustrate the need for new technology, which we will be releasing expeditiously to combat gun violence, speed information sharing, pin point locations and increase our response time,” said police director Jerry Speziale.
