A city man was arrested and 1,085 glassine envelopes of heroin was seized on Tuesday afternoon, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.

Berdnik said authorities also seized 2 guns and $2,512 in cash from Clarence Williams, 24-year-old, at around 4:15 p.m.

Williams exited his residence at 259 Spring Street while under observation and departed in a car. Detectives observed him allegedly conduct a drug sale with a dark SUV. The SUV managed to evade authorities.

Authorities said detectives followed Williams as he drove back home. As he exited his home a second time, a motor vehicle stop was conducted, at which time 100 glassine envelopes of heroin and $366 was seized from Williams.

A search of Williams’ home led to the recovery of 985 glassines of heroin, $2,146 in cash, a .22cal Beretta semi-automatic and a .38 cal revolver as well as ammo for both weapons.

Williams is charged with drugs and weapons charges. Authorities also charged him with two counts of Certain Persons not to Possess a Firearm.

“Alert Detectives were able to take not only a large amount of drugs off our streets, but powerful handguns. 11 serious charges, underscore the significance of this arrest,” Berdnik said. “I want to commend the Sheriff’s Narcotic and Warrant Detectives involved in this arrest.”
