Paterson drug bust nets two, almost $28,000 in cash seized

Police officers arrested one man known for dealing drugs in the downtown area plus a buyer and seized $27,748 in cash during a raid on Wednesday afternoon, said police director Jerry Speziale.

138 glassines of heroin and a loaded Clerke First 22 caliber handgun was seized in the raid at 200 Hamilton Plaza, said the director.

Justo Rosado, 53, of Paterson, was charged with having 138 glassines of heroin, a loaded handgun without permit, and certain person not to have a firearm. He was also charged with dealing drugs near a park and a school, according to police.

Thomas Trewhella, 48, of Totowa was arrested during the bust at 2:15 p.m. and charged with 6 glassines of heroin allegedly purchased from Rosado, said police.

Police seized $27,748 and the handgun from Rosado’s apartment, said police.

“We will continue to vigorously pursue illegal drug distribution and hold those responsible accountable,” said Speziale.
