A third Paterson man has been apprehended in connection with a terrifying Elmwood Park home invasion that occurred earlier in the month when a group of women were held at gunpoint while suspects ransacked a Donor Avenue home, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.

Berdnik said Passaic County detectives spotted Thomas McCllelan, 31, with a group of people at the intersection of Broadway and Auburn Street in Paterson at around 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday night.

McCllelan was quickly taken into custody. He has six open charges pending from the May 8, 2016 home invasion including first-degree armed robbery by threatening to use a Flint Lock Muzzle Rifle, second-degree robbery to conspire with another person, certain person not to have a fire arm, third-degree unlawful weapon possession, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and theft of movable property, according to authorities.

Authorities said McCllelan was the last remaining suspect in the Bergen County home invasion. His alleged accomplices Jamie Hines, 32, and Javon Gee, 20, both Paterson residents, were arrested by Elmwood Park police officers responding to the home invasion at around 8:10 a.m. on May 8, 2016.

Police officers arrested Hines and Gee while they attempted to flee in a vehicle, according to news reports. Both were charged with armed robbery, weapons offenses, and conspiracy. Police seized iPads, iPhones, flat screen televisions, purses, and handbags taken during the home invasion.

A 30-inch muzzle loading rifle was recovered from bushes at 100 block of Boulevard hours later not far from the incident.

McClellan is being held at the Passaic County Jail. His bail is $250,000 with no 10-percent option.

“I want to commend all Detectives from the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office and Elmwood Park Police Department for their work on bring this fugitive to justice,” Berdnik said. “Criminals should know, that they cannot simply roam free when they are wanted by law enforcement.”
