Teague: Honored to meet king of the Yoruba people

letter-to-editor-hq

On Friday, June 10, 2016 I was privileged to join several U.S. dignitaries in welcoming His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife, the Paramount Ruler King of all the Yoruba People World Wide.

The purpose of the meeting was to commemorate the first ever African Monarch Conference in the United States of America. It took place at the African Union at the Nelson Mandela Conference Room at the African Union Permanent Observer to the United Nations Building in New York City.

History was made. I was there. I will never forget the experience, the energy and the amazement. I’m not certain that I’ll ever be able to visit the motherland but Friday’s event will suffice for sure.
