More than 325 Paterson 4th graders to visit Morristown National Park

326 city fourth graders will be heading to the Morristown National Historical Park as part of the ‘Every Kid in a Park’ campaign on Wednesday morning.
Students will visit the different stations run by Park Rangers and park partners at the Morris County town. The fourth graders will also learn about events that connect Morristown and Paterson together while engaging in hands-on activities which includes an Alexander Hamilton themed scavenger hunt.
They will be accompanied by 79 parents and 33 teachers. The students earned free passes when park rangers from the Great Falls National Park visited their fourth grade classrooms in celebration of the 100th birthday of the National Park Service.
The classroom visits included an introduction to the recreational and educational opportunities available at the national parks. Rangers also shared the importance of the Great Falls and other close by parks to United States history.
Students were given the opportunity to earn their official Junior Ranger badge.
The free pass initiative for fourth graders to visit the national parks was launched by president Barack Obama. Students and their families get to enjoy national parks and other public lands for free during the school year through August 31, 2016.
Students will leave for Morristown at 9 a.m.
