Firefighters doused a single-alarm blaze at Carroll Street public housing complex on Saturday night, said deputy fire chief Frank Calamita.

Calamita said the single-alarm fire at 208 Carroll Street began at 9:03 p.m. He said the blaze was contained to a single room in building owned by the Paterson Housing Authority.

Smoke was visible to both pedestrians and motorists in the area as police closed off nearby streets.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, said the deputy chief. The fire did not displace any of the occupants of the building.

No one was injured in the fire, said Calamita.
