A city man was shot and killed in a shooting on East 28th Street early Friday morning, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police responded to East 28th Street between 10th and 11th avenues at around 12:38 a.m. on reports of gunfire and found Michael Boone, Jr., 35-year-old, with multiple gunshot wounds.

Boone was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:50 a.m. by a doctor from St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, authorities said.

Boone was released from Northern State Prison in March after serving 13 years for weapons offenses, drug charges, and robbery, according to state records.

Authorities are investigating the homicide.
