New Jersey’s largest anti-poverty organization Eva’s Village raised $306,179 during its annual golf outing to support 22 programs that provide food, shelter, medical care, recovery, and support services to the needy.

“Funds raised at the golf outing and other events each year, provide critical support for the food, shelter, medical care and supportive recovery services we offer for the greater Paterson Community,” Heather Thompson, development director at the Eva’s Village, said. “Eva’s Village depends on private donations and fundraising, which make up more than a third of our annual revenue.”

This year’s golf outing exceeded funds raised last year by 7-percent, according to the Paterson-based nonprofit.

Over 220 guests attended the day-long Eva’s Village 13th Annual L. Robert Keller Memorial Invitational Golf Tournament at the Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit on June 27, 2016. Guests tested their skills on two historic 18-hole courses at the club in perfect summer weather.

Golfers were served lunch buffet and cocktails. A silent auction and a seated award show dinner was hosted at the renovated clubhouse.

The annual golf outing is named in memory of Eva’s Village board member D. Peter Keller’s brother L. Robert Keller. “Our family is humbled to support the work of Eva’s Village on behalf of men, women and children in need,” D. Peter Keller, owner of the Madison Hotel in Morristown, said.

Eva’s Village served 330,000 meals at its Community Kitchen last year. It provided shelter and housing to 500 adults and over 100 children. It also helped 2,500 individuals through a substance abuse and mental health program.

5,300 patients were served at the nonprofit’s Medical and Dental Clinic.
