17 arrested in Paterson’s weekly narcotics sweep, police

17 people were charged on various drug offenses in the city’s weekly drug sweep, said police director Jerry Speziale.

759 glassine envelopes of heroin, 10 baggies of crack-cocaine, and 6 baggies of powder cocaine were seized in the sweep from July 5th through 11th, 2016.

Police also confiscated $634 in drug money.

City residents charged were Diane Marquez, 50, of Van Houten Street; Gary Carter, 50, of Fulton Place; Unique Jones, 19, of Warren Street; Nathaniel I. Brunson, 26, of Presidential Boulevard; Keshawn Carter, 34, of Keen Street; David Wallace, 64, of Church Street; Kimberly Edmonds aka “Kim,” 59, of Berkshire Avenue; Marjorie Gist, 50, of Berkshire Avenue; Hanif Clyburn, 22, of Godwin Avenue; and George Lennon, 30, of Presidential Boulevard.

Police also arrested Charles G. Jennings, 32, of Hewitt; Randall W. Saraco, 34, of West Milford; Robert Fiola, 32, of Clifton; Christopher T. Masi Jr., 24, of North Caldwell; Jesse Simunovich, 23, of North Caldwell; Christie Corbosiero, 21, of Caldwell; and Michael A. Acocella, 24, of Caldwell.

Marquez, Carter, and Jones were arrested on Governor and Carroll Streets on July 5th, 2016. Marquez and Gary Carter were charged with loitering to commit a drug offense while Jones was charged with having 136 glassines of heroin.

The next day, at the same corner police arrested Brunson with 47 glassines of heroin.

Jennings, Saraco, and Keshawn Carter were caught on Lyons Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard on the same day. Keshawn Carter was charged with having 12 glassines of heroin. He allegedly sold 10 packets to Jennings and Saraco.

Fiola, Wallace, Edmonds, Gist, and Clyburn were arrested on heroin charges at 135 Godwin Avenue on July 8th, 2016, according to police.

Police said Clyburn had 558 glassines of heroin, 5 baggies of crack-cocaine, and 6 baggies of powdered cocaine. He allegedly sold 5 baggies of crack-cocaine to Fiola, 19 glassines of heroin to Wallace, 5 glassines of heroin to Gist, and 5 glassines to Edmonds.

$634 in drug money was taken from Clyburn, said police.

Police busted Masi, Simunovich, Corbosiero, Acocella, and Lennon at 6 12th Avenue on July 11th, 2016. Police charged Masi, Simunovich, Corbosiero, Acocella, and Lennon with having 6 glassines of heroin.

Lennon allegedly sold the 6 glassines of heroin to Simunovich, according to police.

“The narcotics division continues to combat the demand and supply of drugs that ultimately drives crime in our city,” said Speziale. “We will continue in our efforts of making a safer Paterson.”
