Police arrest four, seize almost 1,000 packets of heroin in Paterson drug raid

Four city residents were arrested in a drug raid in the corner of Broadway and 14th Avenue on Tuesday morning, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Speziale said 985 glassine envelopes of heroin, 84 bags of crack, 17 baggies of marijuana, and $1,276 in cash was seized during the raid at 11:47 a.m.

John DeLeon, 20, of East 24th Street; Demeir Rouse, 22, of East 24th Street; Pete Fyfe, 28, of 11th Avenue; and Nasiera Maggette, 20, of Kearny Street were arrested on various drug offenses.

Frfe and Maggette were charged with having 985 glassines of heroin and 84 bags of crack, according to police.

$750 was taken from Fyfe and $526 from Maggette.

DeLeon was charged with having a bag of marijuana and Rouse for having 16 baggies. Rouse was also charged for having drug paraphernalia.

“We will continue to identify locations involved in illegal drug trafficking and pursue them vigorously,” said Speziale. “Those responsible will not go unnoticed and will be identified and arrested accordingly.”
