Paterson’s weekly drug sweep nets 17 people, police

17 people were charged with various drug offenses in the city’s weekly drug sweep, according to police director Jerry Speziale.

Police seized 337 glassines of heroin, 1 knotted bag containing 13 grams of heroin, 13 baggies of marijuana, and 68 baggies of crack-cocaine from August 10 through 15th, 2016. $715 in suspected drug money was confiscated by police, according to the director.

Arrested were city residents Gabe S. Barrentine, 56, of East 26th Street; Shirley L. Taylor, 62, of 12th Avenue; Derick McFarlane, 33, of East 30th Street; William Johnson, 42, of Rosa Parks Boulevard; Leon Williams, 32, of Broadway; Austin Ocampo, 24, of Hopper Street; Sappahaire S. Salmon also known as “Saphire,” 25, of East 18th Street; a 17-year-old city boy; a 17-year-old city boy; Khalil Anderson aka “Six,” 24, of Totowa Avenue; Richard Franceschi, 24, of Market Street; Brandon R. Isbell, 25, of East 18th Street; Richard N. Ramseur, 40, of Lafayette Street; and Lisa Harris, 47, of Auburn Street.

Police also arrested Danielle M. Kuhn, 21, of Lyndhurst; Maxwell T. Evans, 25, of Boonton; and Sara M. Cerasiello, 22, of Boonton.

Police caught Kuhn with 2 glassines of heroin on Aug. 10, 2016 at 311 21st Avenue, according to police. Police arrested Barrentine, Taylor, and McFarlane at 230 Rosa Parks Boulevard.

McFarlane allegedly had 4 baggies of marijuana. He sold 2 baggies to Barrentine and 1 baggie to Taylor.

Johnson was arrested with 22 glassines of heroin, 33 plastic baggies of crack-cocaine, and $240 in drug money at 52 North Main Street, according to police.

Williams was caught with 8 glassines of heroin and 6 baggies of crack-cocaine on Van Houten and East 18th Street.

Evans and Cerasiello were arrested with 100 glassines of heroin at 890 Madison Avenue, according to police.

Ocampo was caught with 15 glassines of heroin and 15 plastic baggies of crack-cocaine at 794 East 18th Street, said police. $240 in suspected drug money was seized from Ocampo, according to police.

Salmon, the two 17-year-olds, Anderson, Franceschi, and Isbell were arrested at 749 East 18th Street on Aug. 11, 2016.

Police charged all six with having 106 glassines of heroin, 1 knotted bag containing 13 grams of heroin, and for having drug paraphernalia, according to police.

$45 was seized from one of the 17-year-olds – the same 17-year-old was found with 9 baggies of marijuana. $190 was taken from Anderson, according to police.

Ramseur and Harris were arrested at 87 Auburn Street on the same day on drug charges, according to police. Ramseur allegedly had 84 glassines of heroin and 14 baggies of crack-cocaine, said police.

“The department will continue its efforts of pursuing those who are involved with illegal narcotics,” said Speziale.
