56-year-old city resident Conrad Jones was arrested early Monday morning for allegedly dealing heroin using a car, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Police said Jones was observed exchanging a brick of heroin for money at the intersection of Carroll and Harrison Streets at about 6:05 p.m. by police officers S. Marotta and J. Suarez.

An unidentified male approached Jones’ Mercedes Benz and handed currency bills in return for a brick of heroin, said police. Police said this male fled on foot upon sight of officers.

The director said Jones led police in a low-speed half-mile chase that ended at 114 Warren Street. Police arrested him with 5 bricks or 250 glassine of heroin.

Speziale said officer C. Suriel responded as backup. He said the vehicle was towed and impounded while Jones was charged with various drug offenses as well as eluding.

“These officers are always extremely alert and truly dedicated to making a safer Paterson,” said Speziale. “I am proud of their hard work and dedication.”
