Six people were displaced and one person was injured as a result of a house fire on East 16th Street on Thursday afternoon, said deputy fire chief Frank Calamita.
Calamita said the single-alarm blaze at 334 East 16th Street was reported at 12:05 p.m. He said firefighters battled a blaze in the attic of the 2.5 story home.
A tenant sustained a foot injury, he said. Four children and two adults were displaced, said the deputy chief.
The fire was doused within an hour, said the deputy chief.
“The fire damaged the attic. There’s smoke damage and water damage throughout the house,” said Calamita.
The deputy chief said electricity to the home had to be cut off as a result of the fire.
