A 32-year-old city man with a lengthy history of drug and weapons charges was arrested on Monday afternoon and charged with murder for allegedly killing a man three days earlier on 12th Avenue, according to police.

Jamal Wade, 32, was arrested at the intersection of 10th and Madison Avenues by detectives Abe Hamdeh, Jimmy Maldonado, and Anthony Petrazuolo. He was arrested without an incident, said police.

Police accused Wade of shooting 29-year-old Cosmeik Gee on 12th Avenue and East 23rd Street. Gee was rushed to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, but succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

This is not the first time Wade has been accused of committing a crime in the area. He was arrested and charged with handgun possession on July 21st, 2004 on 11th Avenue and East 22nd Street. He was sentenced to a seven-year prison sentence with five-year period of parole ineligibility, according to court records.

Wade was arrested on drug charges outside of 485 East 19th Street in August 2015, police said at the time. Wade was arrested on drug charges again last month by Delaware State Police. He was in a vehicle that had 1,499 packets of heroin, authorities said.

Wade is being held at the Passaic County Jail on $1 million bail.
